Tran An

I’ve been so busy the past couple of days with other various work projects that I have not been able to dine out at new places but luckily today I have some free time to visit my friend Chef Jon Nguyen at Tran An.

Located at 215 NE 82nd Street they have been serving amazing Vietnamese cuisine since last year. They opened their doors right in the middle of the pandemic and they    are strongly weathering the storm by serving your favorite Vietnamese dishes both online and dine in. The façade of the space is nicely decorated and has bright colors that are inviting, and they have a generous outdoor patio seating as well.

Thankfully it’s a nice sunny afternoon today when we made our trip here and we were lucky enough to see Chef Jon on site when we arrived. After greeting the Chef and catching up for a bit we were ready to start our lunch and I wanted to order the whole menu as I was so hungry. Of course, we asked the Chef for some guidance in ordering our dishes and we were happy to follow his suggestions.

We started our meal with the Imperial spring rolls and they were on point with balanced flavors and crispness of the roll was perfect with the freshness of the lettuce and acidity of the side pickles.

The braised beef came next with noodles, and this was exceptionally prepared and presented. The beef was super tender and had deep flavors.

The tran an chicken fried rice followed and this was a game changer with such a phenomenal rendition of the famed fried rice dish. The rice was nice and moist and the white chicken meat balanced the dish.

We had their signature chicken pho as our last dish and once again we were blown away by the broth.

Tran An is a perfect example of classic dishes that have been raised to the next level by proper preparation and execution. Chef’s training in France really comes out in his rendition of the menu here and I am so happy that we are able to finally try the dishes here. It was so nice to see our friend and to be able to have the opportunity to dine here and we will definitely be back again in the future for sure.
