South City Kitchen

It’s now my last day in Atlanta and I am feeling very sad to be leaving the beautiful state of Georgia tomorrow. To make me feel a bit better I decided to have some tea before I start my day as always  I’ve been wanting to visit Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party located at 1645 McLendon Avenue. The place had such a nice vibe to it and the tea was explicit as well. The double matcha on the tea pot was just what I needed to pick me up and start my day.

After some tea I was ready for my lunch and it being my final lunch here I opted for some Southern food. South City Kitchen located at 1144 Crescent Avenue in Midtown Atlanta was the perfect venue.

I arrived on time for my 11:30 reservation and was greeted kindly by the hostess and ushered to my table. I noticed that the place was almost half full already this early and that the upstairs dining area was closed for a private function. It was so nice to see all the southern ladies all dressed up and wearing their hats, never thought I would see such a beautiful sight in real life.

Now it was time for some food, and I ordered a nice cold lemonade to drink and was served a complimentary corn bread and biscuit with butter to start the meal. Both corn bread and biscuits were exceptional, soft, and buttery and sweet just like the south.

My appetizer was the fried green tomato with goat cheese which is now officially my favorite starter of all time.

The fried chicken with collard greens followed and served with a side of mashed red potatoes which was amazing. Fried chicken here in Atlanta is serious business and I am glad I was able to experience it first-hand.

For dessert I had the apple pie with the parmesan crunch and dulce gelato which tasted exactly like fall.

This was an exceptional meal overall and I am so happy that I got to try southern food here in Atlanta.

To finish off my afternoon I went to Red’s beer garden located at 1328 Boulevard SE to marvel at their magnificent collection. This is definitely a spot to come back to for their local sours… Cheers…
